Upon the Opening of Avenues of Peace:
A Letter to the Planet
We live in a world in which many feel isolated, in which many feel that their problems are of little concern to anyone but themselves. This is not the world of the future but the world of the past. It is a world built on the presumption of separation, each within themselves, couples within their immediate families, families within their larger families or particular ethnic or religious groups, and so on. There are relatively few, still, who are members of the planetary family, who, while having more intimate links with certain others, identify with the well being of the planet as a whole.
Nevertheless, these few are powerful. Their voice and spirit can be heard not only in the things they write or in the ways of social action that they advocate or participate in. More powerful than these is the force of their consciousness which holds that each is connected to every other by bonds of energy and awareness that influence all members of the human family for better or worse - either for the purposes of upliftment of the human spirit, or for the purposes of creating greater separation and isolation. Those who are planetary citizens take this responsibility very seriously. They desire to be a force for planetary upliftment.
As such, they have a unique role to play at this time. For they are the loud voices for peace, love, and unity that may never be heard on the public media. Yet, these voices are broadcast on unseen bands of energy that are spiritual currents affecting the life of the planet. They broadcast on these bands unconsciously, for the most part, for what speaks are not their lips but their deepest heart.
These planetary citizens have avowed that no one shall be alone any longer. No one shall feel that their problems are only theirs to address. They hold an identification with the world and its people without exception, and bear witness to the suffering of anyone as their own. Holding this suffering in love, they desire to participate in whatever ways possible in the healing of the world.
It is to this end that Avenues of Peace has come into being. As a vehicle for change and a voice for peace, its purpose is to announce to humanity that no one has to stand alone. That there are those who are ready to respond to the needs of others and to listen to the pain of others. There are those who are ready to hold the world in an embrace of Divine love, light, and healing so that all may be nourished and all may be fed.
May the inspiration, both human and Divine, that has given rise to Avenues of Peace seed its message within open hearts everywhere. And may these hearts open wider, still, to allow love for all beings to become a living part of the reality that each may live by.
